New iPhone & iPad Parental Control: Ask to Browse

We all want to keep our kids safe online and make sure they aren't exposed to inappropriate content. You can use age limits to restrict which websites your kids can access, and they can request exceptions with Ask to Browse. Ask to Browse sends a request to the designated adult in the Family Group, who can then review and approve or disapprove the requested content.

How to Use Ask to Browse for Exceptions to iPhone & iPad Parental Controls

You need to set up Family Sharing and add your kids to the group before you can turn on Ask to Browse. Once you've set up Family Sharing, you can set up Ask to Browse and other Parental Controls; here's how: 

1. Open the Settings app.
   
   
2. Tap Family.
   
   
3. Tap a child's name.
   
   
4. Tap Screen Time.
   
   
5. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.
   
   
6. Here, you can set and see restrictions for iTunes & App Store Purchases, Allowed Apps & Features, App Store, Media, Web & Games, Siri, and Accessibility.
   
   
7. For this example, I've tapped App Store, Media, Web & Games, so you can see what the restrictions look like. Apple has really covered everything! When your child wants an exception to any of the Web Content category, they can send an Ask to Browse request, which you can confirm or deny.
