How to Accept a Shared Album Invite on Your iPhone

Shared Albums let you add photos and videos to a collaborative photo album, but first, you have to know how to accept a shared album. Here's how to accept a Shared Album invite, and what to do if a shared album invite is not showing up.

How to Accept Shared Album Invite on iPhone & iPad

Have you been invited to an iCloud Shared Album? It's easy to join in! If you just received an invitation to a Shared Album, you should have a notification for it, but if not, here's how to accept a Shared Album invite you've been sent through the Photos app. We'll show you how to accept a Shared Album invitation now.

  1. When someone sends you a shared album invitation, you may get a pop-up notification. If so, tap it. tap shared albums notification on home screen
  2. Tap Accept to join the shared album. You can also tap Decline or Report Junk if you don't want to accept the album. tap accept decline or report junk
  3. If you don't see a pop up, check your Notification Center for a Shared Albums notification, then tap Accept. open shared album from notification center
  4. If the notification has been cleared, open the Photos app. open the photos app on Home Screen
  5. Make sure you're in the Collections tab, then tap the caret next to Albums. tap the caret next to albums in photos
  6. Tap Activity at the top of the page to see the album you just joined, then tap Accept. tap accept to accept shared album invitation

After you accept a shared album invitation, you can find this album, as well as any other Shared Albums you have joined in Albums, along with all your personal albums.

Shared Album Invite Not Showing Up?

Not receiving an invite to Shared Albums? If a shared album invite is not showing up, make sure the sharing link hasn't expired, and resend the invitation if it has. Check to see if your device needs a software update, and if it doesn't, restart your iPhone. If you are still having trouble and it seems like you cannot receive Shared Album invitations, check your cellular and Wi-Fi connection to confirm you can access the internet. Finally, you need to have Shared Albums enabled. You can find it in the Settings app:

  1. Open the Settings app and tap Apps. tap apps in iPhone settings
  2. Tap Photos. tap photos in apps settings
  3. Make sure the toggle next to Shared Albums is green and to the right, indicating it is turned on. toggle on shared albums in photos settings
