Fix Bluetooth Not Working by Forgetting Device
If the Bluetooth is still not connecting to your Mac, you can try deleting the device from your Mac's memory and then reconnecting it. This option is how I solved my Bluetooth issue between my iPhone and my car.
- Open System Settings.
- Click Bluetooth.
- Click the "i" icon next to the device you are trying to connect to.
- Click Forget This Device.
- Click Forget This Device again to confirm.
Now, try reconnecting the Bluetooth device to your Mac as a new device.
Delete .plist Files to Reset Mac Bluetooth
While this is one of the more advanced routes to fix Bluetooth not working on a Mac, it may be your best bet if you find the other solutions are not working. Sometimes, the Mac's Bluetooth .plist files become corrupted and cause connectivity issues.
Note: You may not find one or even both of these files in your Library. If not, there's nothing wrong with your computer, but unfortunately, you might not be able to try this method. If you find one, you can delete it and try anyway, but if you don't find either, and no other methods listed here have worked for you, you may need to move on to contacting Apple Support.
- Cick Finder.
- At the top navigation, click Go.
- Select Go to Folder.
- Type in "/Library/Preferences" and press enter.
- Locate and "com.apple.BluetoothAudio" and "com.apple.bluetoothuserd".
- Right-click them and click Move to Trash, then restart your computer.
When you turn your computer back on, it will automatically generate a new .plist file that should be uncorrupted.
