There are times when you aren’t sure what exactly you want to find when you do a Google image search. Other times, you are looking for something extremely specific. This is where an Advanced Google Image Search will help you save a lot of time! Plus, you can use it to find free images or hide explicit content.

How to Perform an Advanced Google Image Search

  1. Open https://www.google.com in Safari. If you use another browser, the steps below may be a little different.

  9. Now, pick between any color, full color, black & white, transparent, or this color (then tap the colored square and select your preferred color.)

  10. Tap any type to pick if you want an image of a face, photo, clip art, line drawing, or animated image.

  11. Next, tap any region and select your preferred region. I tend to leave this blank.

  12. Next, you can type the name or domain of a specific website. For example, if you want an image of an iPhone, you may want to input Apple's official website here.

  13. Under SafeSearch, select if you want to show or hide explicit content.

    Tap any format to pick a specific format, for example, GIF or SVG.

  15. Tap all under usage rights to select if you want to only get images with Creative Commons licenses (that are free to use) or Commercial & other licenses (that you can buy for business use.)

Note:

You can select any categories you want or leave them blank or unspecified if you don't have a preference. Only make selections that will actually be beneficial to your search.
