How to Pick a Still from a Live Photo on iPhone & iPad

Saving a still from a Live Photo on iPhone can be done in two ways. The first is to duplicate a live image and convert the Live Photo to a still. However, that method doesn’t allow you to select a frame from a Live Photo to convert to a still shot. For more great lessons about how to edit photos on an iPhone, check out our free Tip of the Day. Now, here's how to select a frame from a Live Photo:
- Open the Photos app.
- Find the Live Photo that you want to convert. The easiest way to find Live Photos is to scroll down to Media Types from your Photos home page.
- Once you've found the right Live Photo, tap Edit or the editing icon in iOS 18.
- Tap the Live Photo icon.
- Tap and hold the white frame to drag it left and right, and select a new Key Photo.
- Tap Make Key Photo.
- Tap Done.
