This tip was performed on an iPhone 17 running the iOS 27 beta, which will be shipped universally in September 2026. These steps do not work for users running iOS 26, or for iPhones and iPads that cannot use Apple Intelligence features. Find out how to update to the latest version of iOS.
Apple Intelligence allows iPhone and iPad users to alter a photo after taking it. You can zoom in or out, as well as change the photo perspective or angle; here's how.
- Take a new photo or open a photo you've already taken.
- Tap the Edit icon.

- Tap Tools.

- Tap Cleanup, Extend, or Reframe. You can use Cleanup to remove elements in the photo that you don't want to see.

- Tap Extend to increase the view of your photo. Just use two fingers to make a pinching inward gesture. AI will fill in areas outside the photo you took.

- Sometimes, the "Extending your photo" option will take a very long time. You can exit this option by tapping the X if it takes too long. Perhaps this feature will be improved in future operating systems.

- Tap Reframe to adjust the photo's perspective. Your Apple device will read Preparing as it scans the photo.

- Next, touch and drag your finger across the photo to change the perspective. How much you can adjust varies from photo to photo.

- Tap Reframe when you've made your adjustment.
