When will iOS 18 Photos Clean Up be available? This new AI-powered feature will be available when iOS 18.1 drops. Photo Clean Up takes full advantage of Apple Intelligence to work, so you’ll need an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, or iPhone 16 Pro to use this feature. Here’s how to remove an object from a photo on iPhone:

  1. Open a photo in the Photos app and select the edit button.

  2. Tap Clean Up.

  3. If Apple Intelligence detects an object or person to remove, you will see it glowing. Simply tap the glow to remove the object.

  4. If Apple Intelligence doesn’t seem to be detecting the object you want to remove, you can scribble over it with your finger and the AI will do its best to remove the object.

  5. Once the object has been removed, tap Done to save your photo.

Pro Tip

You can also use the Clean Up tool to blur faces. Simply scribble over a face, and Apple Intelligence will automatically place a pixelated block over the face instead of removing the object.
