The app store looks very different in iOS 11. Not only are many of the tabs at the bottom different, but also Apple has added new features to the App Store that weren’t there before. The App Store has full articles on how to play certain games, interviews with the developers of a popular app, a featured App of the Day, and more. In a lot of ways, it’s much easier to find and discover apps in the new App Store. But it may take some getting used to. Here’s a quick tour of the new App Store with iOS 11 on iPhone.

A Quick Tour of the New App Store with iOS 11
- Open the App Store.
- The first tab to the very left at the bottom of the screen is the Today tab. Tap on it.
- This is Apple’s answer to the lack of discoverability in the previous version of the App Store. Here you’ll see a mix of app features, how-to articles, an App of the Day, app roundups, app developer interviews, and more. If you scroll down far enough, you can even see the previous days and the articles featured then.
- The next tab is Games and it’s also new. Since gaming is such a huge part of app categories, Games now has it’s own place in the App Store. At the top, there is a slider with apps that Apple is featuring. Below are several different lists, such as Game-Changing Ar, New Games We Love, Top Paid, and more. Scroll down far enough and you’ll see lists of other categories, which you can explore too.
- The last three tabs are generally the same: Apps, Updates, and Search. However, the Apps tab is designed similarly to the Games tab, which makes it much easier to discover apps you’ve never tried before.
- Another small but nice change is the checkout design when purchasing an app; it now appears just like Apple Pay with a pop-up from the bottom of the screen that directs you to complete your purchase.
