Throwback: If McDonald’s Advertised Like Apple

Surely, whether you’re Apple’s biggest fan or not, we can all agree the company’s marketing likes to buoy its own innovation and epic-ness. From the iPhone 6s tagline, “The only thing that’s changed is everything,” to the Apple Watch copy, “To wear it is to love it,” Apple is great at declaring the significance of its own products. That’s why Buzzfeed’s “If McDonald’s Advertised Like Apple” remains to be fantastically hilarious and deserves a throwback nod of appreciation.

My favorite Apple reveal videos always feature the products super up-close, scanning over the body of the hardware while popular music or a smart-sounding voice narrates how absolutely epic it is. The latest Retina Macbook reveal video (below) is a great example for comparison: I’m so entranced by the fantastic music (Gold by Chet Faker in case you were wondering) that I forget to question anything else about the video, such as why I’m staring at a bubble on a screen for twenty seconds.

Now, enjoy a good laugh as McDonalds hires Apple’s marketing team to promote its new Fri with patented Smart Grease. “But that’s not all. Introducing, Nugget.” The Nugget’s tagline being, “When machinery meets meat.” Of course, they’d be remiss not to include Mac with buns whose sesame seeds were placed individually by tweezers. It’s clearly nonsense, yet I can’t help but think that McDonald’s sales would go up if they actually advertised like this.
