How to Take iPhone Photos With Your Apple Watch

A little known trick of the Apple Watch is that you can use it as your shutter remote for taking pictures with your iPhone. When you open the Camera app on your Apple Watch, you’ll see whatever the iPhone’s camera can see. This is perfect for taking family photos since you can station the iPhone on a tripod, join the group, and tap the button or activate the three-second timer right from your Apple Watch. Here’s how to take iPhone photos using your Apple Watch.

  • Open the Camera app on your iPhone.

  • Then open the Camera app on your Apple Watch. (*I found that the reverse order works too, but my Apple Watch momentarily freaks out as it tries to figure out what I’m doing.)

  • Whatever your iPhone camera is viewing will show up on your Apple Watch.

  • To take a photo, simply tap the white circle at the bottom of your Apple Watch screen. You can also select the 3s to activate a three-second timer before the photo is taken.

That’s it!
