Messenger can be used to video chat with friends on Facebook, but did you know that you can also use it to screen share? As long as the person you want to share your screen with has a Facebook account and the Messenger app, you will be able to screen share with them.
How to Call on Facebook Messenger to Screen Share
In order to screen share via Facebook, both parties will need to initiate the Facebook video call on laptops; both Macs and PCs will work. However, the feature will be disabled if either end uses a phone for the call. The example below is of a Facebook video chat on Chrome; it may look slightly different in other browsers. - Open Facebook in your internet browser.
- Click on Messenger.
- Select See all in Messenger.
- Go to the contact you'd like to video chat with.
- Click on the receiver or video camera icon to initiate the call. You don't need to be on a video call to share your screen.
- Click Start call.
- Tap the screen share icon.
- Select the screen you wish to share under the Entire Screen tab. If you only want to share a specific window or Chrome Tab, select one of those instead.
- Click Share.
- Your contact will see your computer screen. To stop sharing your screen, click on Stop screen sharing or end the call by clicking the red receiver icon.
Pro Tip: If you want to share your iPhone's screen, you can plug your iPhone into your Mac with the cable, then use Facebook Messenger on your computer to share your screen and the iPhone's screen. After step nine above, you will have to navigate to QuickTime and select your iPhone from the drop-down menu. It can be a little complicated, so you may consider using a different app, such as Zoom, to do this.
