Twelve South has easily become one of my go-to places for fantastic and gorgeous iPhone and iPad accessories. This time, the company is pushing innovation with a sleek charging stand that can charge any lightning device you have for it: the HiRise Deluxe ($34.99). From charging your iPhone (in its case) to the new Apple Pencil, this may be Twelve South’s most useful accessory yet.
When I first unboxed the charging stand, I felt a little overwhelmed. There are a few parts and instructions to follow for set it up. However, the instruction booklet included made it extremely easy to do. Once it’s setup, you understand that the setup is part of the brilliance in this item. First, you attach the stabilizing bar so that iPads and keyboards can charge without fear of falling. The bar is also easily adjustable with a small knob at the back. You can loosen the knob a little to adjust the back for different devices.
To complete the setup, you have to run the (included) lightning cable through the port and add the lighting clip cover that’s best for you. The cord runs through the bottom and is covered by a plate, allowing the multiple pieces to come together as a single unit. I plugged it in and slid my iPhone on. Then gave my iPad a test run and found the little pedestal doubles as a fantastic stand. The unit itself is sleek and easily stored out of the way.
The HiRise package also comes with a micro-USB cord for varying needs. The stand is able to charge any lightning port device, including the iPhone, iPad, Apple Pencil, Apple TV remote, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Mouse 2.
