OV Pro Smart Headphones Review: Comfort, Noise Cancellation & Voice Control

Bluetooth earbuds are popular, especially those with active noise cancellation, but their small size mandates short battery life. The OV Pro Smart Headphones ($179) offer a nice compromise, so I was eager to try them when OV Loop sent them. Unlike traditional earbuds, the OV Pro have a neckband that allows for a larger battery life and less weight directly on the ears. This makes them suitable for longer use, plus alternate ear tips are included for a custom fit. The result is 14 hours of battery life and a more comfortable time wearing them for that long.

For having such a small form factor, the OV Pro Smart Headphones still offer active noise cancellation and even more impressively, their own voice control, dubbed "OV," which can interface with your contacts for chat and more. You can also access Siri, Google, and Alexa, but you have to do so through either a button press or the awkward "OV Alexa" prefix, etc., combined with OV Loop's "OV App" app.

I like that they have a line-in option. Using the USB-C port and the included USB-C to headphone jack cable you can plug in to a traditional audio source. This would be helpful on an airplane or at the gym. They also include a USB-C to USB-A cable to charge the headphones. Finally, they are sold in all black or a classy white with rose gold accents. The audio sounded a little tinny to me, but the advanced voice features, line-in, and noise cancellation capabilities are compelling.

Pros

  • Active noise cancellation
  • Voice Control including OV for chat and more
  • Siri, Google, Alexa Integration
  • Line-in option
  • 14 hours of battery life
  • $30 rebate offer, currently

Cons

  • Somewhat tinny sounding

Final Verdict

The OV Pro Headphones from OV Loop have state-of-the-art voice commands, decent battery life and are comfortable for longer use.
