Facebook’s Changing How You Share Music

I’m a music sharing fiend. Yet, if I want my Facebook friends to listen to a track, I always share Youtube videos, even if I’m listening to the song on Spotify or Apple Music. This is because you can listen to a Youtube video from your News Feed but Spotify and Apply Music links take you to the respective app. However, that's officially changed.

Facebook is adding “Music Stories” to its iOS app. Music Story is new kind of post which allows you share a 30 second clip of the Spotify or Apple Music song you’re listening to. If you like a song you find on your News Feed, you’ll be able to save the song to your Apple Music and Spotify playlists or buy the song. This is a smart move for Facebook as it offers less of a reason to leave the app; however, it should also allow your friends to better understand what awesome taste in music you have.

Facebook plans to add other streaming services apart from Apple Music and Spotify to the posting options in the future. We’ll also likely see Music Stories Android if the new feature takes off. Check out Facebook's demo video below.
