How to Lock Private Tabs with Face ID on Safari (iOS 17)

With iOS 17, Apple has increased security measures around private browsing for Safari. Apple is introducing a feature that can be toggled on that will require Face ID (or Touch ID, depending on your iPhone model) to access private browsing. This means that if you hand your iPhone to someone while it's unlocked, they still won't be able to view any private browsing tabs you have open. Here's how it works!

I'm pretty rough on my iPhone, so it's a good thing I typically have it in a sturdy protective iPhone case. In your Contacts app, you can assign photos to each contact for easy recognition. When you open the Messages app, you’ll see a photo next to each message if that contact has been assigned a photo. With the introduction of larger iPhone screens, Apple also created the feature Reachability. You may have activated this by accident in the past; it’s when your interface temporarily moves to the bottom of the screen, providing access to icons or links that were out of reach while holding the phone with one hand. To activate Reachability, you simply tap the Home button twice. Don’t click the Home button, or the App Switcher will pop up. However, if you don’t care for this feature, here’s how to turn off Reachability.

Taking the baton from Apple in the war on privacy, Microsoft is suing the Justice Department for the right to tell its customers when the government is looking at their emails. Microsoft receives thousands of government requests for emails and documents, and it wants to let its users know when the government is snooping on them. The lawsuit cites a violation of our Fourth and First Amendment constitutional rights.

How to Convert Live Photo to Still on iPhone

Wondering, “How do I turn off a Live Photo?” If a Live Photo you take captures a bit of video or audio you don’t want, you can convert the Live Photo to a still image in two different ways. You can turn off the live part of the live photo, or you can duplicate the photo as a still and keep or delete the original. Here are both ways to change a Live Photo to a still picture. 

Wi-Fi Assist was introduced with iOS 9. When enabled, Wi-Fi Assist will automatically switch over to your data plan if your Wi-Fi connection becomes too slow.
