Apple officially owns a patent pertaining to “devices and methods for a ring computing device” with the US Patent and Trademark Office. The patent outlines features such as built-in microphone, haptic feedback, biometric sensors, and even a small touchscreen.
Much like the Apple Watch, the iRing would pair with your device via wireless communication. The patent goes on to discuss input and output components allowing the device to utilize multi touch, voice, and gesture. The patent also mentions an example of using the ring for Apple Pay, wherein a vocal agreement and handshake would exchange money via touch.
It’s too soon to say whether or not Apple intends to bring the product to market; however, patent images show how thoroughly the product is being considered. The only question is, would you buy it?
