Did you just upgrade your iPhone to a new model with no Home button? The most common question we hear from users new to the no-home-button "club" is how to find the Home screen on an iPhone without that button. I encountered this issue with my iPhone 11 and was stuck Googling "How do I get to my iPhone 11 Home screen?" So I'm here to help, and hopefully to make it easier for you to feel comfortable with the new way to navigate home on your iPhone without a Home button. Here’s how to get to the Home screen on iPhone XR, XS, X, 11, and more.
How to Navigate an iPhone without a Home Button
You can get to the iPhone 11 Home Screen or the Home Screen on any other new iPhone without a Home button with a simple swipe. Here's how to get to the Home Screen without a Home button.
- On your unlocked Lock Screen or in any app, locate the bar at the bottom of your screen. This bar is called the Home bar.
- Place your finger on the Home bar and swipe up past the middle of the screen.

And that's it! Now you know how to get to the Home Screen on an iPhone 11, 12, or any other iPhone without a Home button. As I mentioned above, the bar at the bottom of your screen is a perfect visual cue for where to swipe up from (although you won’t see the bar from the Home Screen, just within apps or on the Lock screen). Like taking screenshots without a Home button, once you get this new gesture down, returning to the Home screen by swiping up will feel completely natural.
