How to Avoid Traffic in Apple Maps

Enabling the Traffic setting allows you to view upcoming traffic jams, with heavy traffic marked red and slower traffic marked yellow on your route. This way, when you enter a destination, you can view slow or stopped traffic and select an alternate route.

How to Enable Apple Maps Traffic Setting

With the Apple Maps show traffic toggle enabled, slow traffic will be marked in yellow, while stopped traffic will be marked in red. 1. Open Apple Maps.
   
   
2. Tap the Info icon. 
   
   
3. Tap the Traffic toggle to view traffic on the map. The toggle is green when enabled.
