Apple released the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max iPhone 14 in the fall of 2022. A lot of people wonder about water resistance, and if the iPhone 14 is waterproof. You might have heard that the iPhone 14 is waterproof, but actually, it's only splash and water-resistant. Here's how dust and water-resistant the iPhone 14 line is and which waterproof iPhone cases can make your iPhone 14 waterproof.
Is the iPhone 14 Waterproof?
The iPhone 14 line has been lab tested and earned an IP68 rating under International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. This rating means that your iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max can be submerged up to 6 meters (19.68 feet) for up to 30 minutes without being damaged. Despite this, the iPhone 14 isn't considered waterproof.
The IP68 rating also means that the iPhone 14 is resistant to dust and splashes of water, as well as non-corrosive liquids like juice, tea, soda, coffee, and beer. If you splash water or other liquids on your iPhone, it's easy to clean your iPhone. You can also fix the Liquid Has Been Detected in Lightning Connector notification, and get water out of iPhone speakers.
Keep in mind that Apple doesn't cover liquid damage under your AppleCare warranty, and dust and water resistance can diminish as your iPhone ages. For more great iPhone tutorials, check out our free Tip of the Day.

How to Make Your iPhone 14 Waterproof
If you want to know for sure that your iPhone is waterproof, and use it for activities like taking pictures underwater, the answer is a waterproof iPhone case. There are lots of great phone cases available, but here are two of my favorites.
Catalyst Total Protection Case ($89.99)
The Catalyst Total Protection is rugged, washable, and will waterproof your iPhone 14 in depths up to 33 feet. This iPhone case is also drop proof up to 6.6 feet and is compatible with Catalyst screen protectors.
Otterbox FRE Series $99.95
The Otterbox MagSafe waterproof iPhone case doesn't offer as much protection as Catalyst's, but it will protect your iPhone 14 in depths of up to 6.6 feet for up to an hour. The FRE is drop proof up to 6.6 feet and comes in black, purple, and green.
