While you can create lists in the Notes app, the Reminders app has this functionality built-in, making it quicker and easier to use, especially when it comes to grocery lists. For more iPhone shortcuts and advice, check out our free Tip of the Day newsletter. Now, let’s take a look at how to create a Reminders list on iPhone:
- Open the Reminders app.
- Tap Add List.
- If you have multiple Apple IDs on your iPhone, you’ll need to select which account you want the list to be created under.
- Give your list a name.
- Select the List Type.
- You can choose between a Standard list, Groceries, or a Smart List. In this tip, we'll be going over creating a Standard list. Note: Grocery Lists are only available on iOS 17 and newer.
- Choose a color for your list.
- Select an icon.
- Tap Done.
- Tap New Reminder to add an item to your list.
- Enter a name for the item.
- Tap Add Note to add additional information, if needed.
- Tap the info icon to customize the entry further if you'd like.
- You can adjust the name, notes, and even add a URL.
- You can select a date and time for when you want to be reminded about this.
- Select Tags to give your reminder a tag, making it easier to find.
- Toggle Location on if you want to be reminded about this when arriving at a specific location.
- Toggle When Messaging on to get a reminder when texting a specific contact.
- Lastly, you can flag the reminder, adjust its priority, move it to a different list, add subtasks, or add an image.
- When you complete something on the list, tap the small circle next to it to mark it as completed.
- It will then be automatically removed from the list.
