What to Know
- If you get a voicemail and there's nothing in your call history, reboot your iPhone and make sure your software is up to date.
- A common culprit is that call forwarding is enabled. To check this: open Settings, tap Apps, select Phone, tap Call Forwarding, and make sure the toggle is disabled.
- If none of these solutions resolve your issue, you may need to check for problems with your service provider.
Some people have been experiencing a new glitch in iOS 18 where they got a voicemail, but a call never arrived. In other words, the call never showed up in their call history, but the caller left a voicemail. Here are some ways to fix this odd iPhone glitch.

Did Your iPhone Get a Voicemail but There’s Nothing in Call History? Here's the Fix!
If your iPhone got a phone call but there's nothing in your call history, it could be just a glitch. It could be that you were in an area with no cellular signal when this happened. If not, try a hard reboot of your iPhone, and make sure your iPhone's iOS is up to date. It could also be that someone sent a message directly to your voicemail rather than calling.
Is a Focus Mode Enabled?
If the call is in your call history, but you didn't get a notification or hear your iPhone ring, check your Focus modes. Regardless of whether or not you have a Focus mode turned on, calls should still show up in your call history. However, it's worth checking the settings to see if Phone is an allowed app, and what style of call notifications you've enabled. If you think the issue is with a particular Focus mode, you can delete that mode, then set it up again.
For example, I have included Phone in my Allowed Apps in my Work focus mode.
Is Call Forwarding On?
Call Forwarding is another reason why your iPhone may get a voicemail but nothing in the call history. Check to see if Call Forwarding is enabled, and if so, turn it off, then have a friend call you to see if the call goes through properly and is added to your call history.
Not all cellular carriers offer Call Forwarding. If you don't see this option in settings, or if it is grayed out, your service provider doesn't offer call forwarding and this is not the cause of your problem.
Is It a Cellular Service Issue?
If none of the above steps have stopped the issue of your iPhone getting a voicemail but nothing in your call history, it's time to contact your cellular service provider to see if the issue is on their end.
By now, you should have an answer to why you got a voicemail, but the call never arrived. If you're still having issues and none of the above sections answered your questions, it may be time to reset network settings. If the problem persists after this, contact Apple Support.
